What’s Included in the Set
- Two 3 inch paring knives
- 5 inch utility knife
- 6 inch utility knife
- 7 and 1/2 inch fillet knife
- 8 inch carving knife
- 10 inch bread knife
- Sharpening Steel
This isn’t the greatest set of knives, of course for about $90 what would one expect. The blades for traditional Chicago Cutlery is made from high carbon but they’re stamped so the sharpness won’t last as long as a forged blade. The walnut handles do look nice but will fade over time and frequent washings.
The actual knife selection is kind of odd as well and could have used a better variety. Two paring knives of the same size seems pointless as do the two serrated utility knives. I do like that the bread knife is 10 inches long, the longer than normal blade makes it easier to cut wider loafs of bread.
My negativity doesn’t mean these Chicago Cutlery makes terrible knives but you can do much better. If you want some “throw away” knives that you want to use for a little while but not long term, you’d be better off buying something cheap from a department store. If you want a longer lasting knife set, there are better investment options there too. This walnut set by Chicago Cutlery just doesn’t match up with most people’s needs.
